Fossil fuels divestment is an idea whose time has come. But is it a good idea?
Last week brought the news that Norway's sovereign wealth fund, the world's largest, would be divesting from coal. Meanwhile, big university and religious endowments have divested from fossil fuel companies, after coming under pressure on campus that recalled the South African divestment movement three decades earlier. Stanford is divesting from coal. The Church of England will no longer invest in tar sands.
