The report, “Is Factory Farming Making Us Sick?” by AMP Capital’s senior ESG Analyst, global equities and fixed income, Kristen Le Mesurier, once again puts the spotlight on the rising trend to ethical investing.
In some cases it is translating into fund managers excluding certain investments from their portfolios; in other cases it is about engagement with companies to change their behaviour.
The message is clear: for an increasing number of investors it is no longer acceptable to profit at any cost.
In the case of companies that use antibiotics in animal production, it is about the latter.
The report comes on the back of a a groundswell of scientific evidence and a report by the World Health Organisation that identifies antimicrobial resistance (AMR) as one of the biggest threats to global health.
